Overview

The SEO Manager is a mid-level management position in the organization responsible for managing strategy, problem-solving and execution of technical and on-page SEO efforts. The SEO manager has a key role in communicating with clients, working efficiently with internal team members, and being a knowledge expert in the area of SEO- including Google algorithm updates and predicting trends.


Areas of Responsibility: Management

  • Daily utilization of Basecamp for project management purposes
  • Daily verbal and written client communication
  • Scoping new projects and tasks to identify the necessary resources and timelines for completion
  • Regular report development and presentation
  • Manage team members while ultimately remaining accountable for client SEO results
  • Train team members and clients on SEO strategies, processes, and result measurement
  • Support sales team by providing SEO insight to support their presentation and sales process
  • Client goal setting and success measurement
  • Keep pace with SEO and digital marketing trends, including Google algorithm changes and predicting SEO trends

    • Keyword Research
    • Recommendations on page titles, headings (text & structure), meta descriptions, image optimization, interlinking, and page copy updates
    • Analyze on-page SEO opportunities & prioritize pages to be optimized

    • Voice search optimization
    • App store optimization
    • Social meta tags
  • Annual Google Analytics Certification
  • Maintain an understanding of best practices around SEO-friendly technology to make recommendations as needed: CMS, DNS, Server, Host, Plugins / extensions, etc.
  • Monitor and evaluate web analytics dashboards and reports in order to develop and recommend SEO strategies
  • Provide strategic direction for link building, content development and conversion rate optimization, as it relates to SEO

Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • 2+ years of agency experience with a focus on client management and communication
  • Extensive experience with On-Page SEO and Technical SEO items outlined above
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience working with enterprise-level websites
  • Required experience with the following tools:
    • Google Analytics
    • Google Search Console
    • Bing Webmaster Tools
    • Screaming Frog (and utilizing custom configurations)
    • Google Keyword Planner
  • Experience with these tools a plus:
    • Deep Crawl (or equivalent web crawlers)
    • MOZ
    • SEMRush
    • Advanced Web Rankings (AWR)
